Why do we take life too seriously?

I was driving to work one day and I was looking at the sky pondering, "look at everybody headed to work; having their own problems and worries; stress; trials; sorrow, but nobody stops to realize that none of these problems matter to this earth or universe. Everybody is just letting their lives p them by without even noticing the beauty this world truly holds. Before they know it they will be six feet under the ground, yet this earth will continue to flourish. Because this earth needs no living creatures to thrive. This planet would be better off without us. We humans destroy this earth. We do not deserve to be here, yet here we are living our lives; having the most minute problems when in comparison with this universe. We are specks on a blue dot in the vast ever-expanding universe. Each individual speck has its own individual life full with insignificant problems. And sadly I am one of those specks." Then I opened my car door, and went in to work.
